Franciscan Missionary Sisters celebrate 80th anniversary

A parish Mass for the Year of Consecrated Life in the Church of Our Lady of the Wayside in Jenkinstown, Co. Louth coincided with the fact that the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa were celebrating the 80th anniversary of the foundation of their mother house, Mount Oliver Convent.

Parish Priest of Lordship & Ballymascanlon, Fr Pádraig Murphy welcomed the sisters to the Mass saying it was an opportunity “for all of us in this parish to rejoice with you and acknowledge the wonderful contributions you have made to the Church not just here in Ireland, but especially in Africa over the past eight decades”.

During the Mass, Sr Ann McColl OSF gave a very informative talk on the Franciscan order and thanked the parish for “all the practical and spiritual support received”.
